Crocus series Crocus in Greece

autumnal flowering, yellow anthers and style divided into 3 orange or red branches branches. Leaves synanthous (or just appearing). Prophyll and bracteole present. Tunics finely fibrous-reticulate.

άνθιση φθινοπωρινή, κίτρινοι ανθήρες, στύλος διαιρεμένος σε 3 πορτοκαλί ή κόκκινους βραχίωνες. Φύλλα συνάνθια (ή μόλις φαίνονται οι κορυφές τους). Με πρόφυλλο και μικρό βράκτιο. Χιτώνες πυκνά νηματώδεις-δικτυωτοί.

Fls white or lilac, often darker veined. Style longer than segments. Tunics thin, producing a neck. Lvs 5-11, 

Άνθη λευκά ή λιλά, με σκουρότερες νευρώσεις. Στύλος μακρύτερος των τεπάλων.

Fls white or lilac, throat yellow or white. Filaments yellow or white. Style shorter than segments. Lvs 5-9.

Άνθη λευκά ή λιλά, λαιμός κίτρινος ή λευκός. Νήματα κίτρινα ή λευκά. Στύλος μικρότερος των τεπάλων. Φύλλα 5-9.

•  Crocus oreocreticus B. L. Burtt, 1949                     Oct-Dec.                      Endemic to Kriti.

               Fls lilac to purple, darker veined. Lvs 7-15.   

               Άνθη λιλά έως πορφυρά, με σκουρότερες νευρώσεις. Φύλλα 7-15. 

• Crocus pallasii Goldb., 1817     Oct-Nov.     CE and NE mainland (south to Mt. Imittos, E Sterea Ellas)  and E Aegean islands. Also Balkans to Middle East.

               Fls fragrant, rose-lilac to lilac-blue or purplish-blue, with dark veins. Throat white or lilac. Filaments white. Style equal to longer than anthers. Lvs 7-12.  

               Άνθη εύωσμα, ρόδινα-λιλά έως λιλά-μπλέ ή ρόδινα-μπλέ, με σκουρότερες νευρώσεις. Λαιμός λευκός ή λιλά. Νήματα λευκά. Στύλος ίσος ή μακρύτερος των ανθήρων. Φύλλα 7-12.
