Colchicum turcicum Janka, 1873
Described from Istanbul (Konstantinoupolis).
Άνθιση: Σεπτέμβριος- Οκτώβριος. Φύλλα Φεβρουάριο-Απρίλιο.
Βολβός έως 4.2 Χ 4.5 εκ., υποσφαιρικός (με σχήμα καστάνου), χιτώνες δερματώδεις, σκούροι καφέ με μακρύ λαιμό.
Φύλλα 5-9, υστεράνθια, μάλλον όρθια (- αποκλίνοντα), έως 22 Χ 1.3 εκ., περιθώρια συνεστραμμένα, τριχωτά.
Άνθη 3-8, τέπαλα έως 5 Χ 1 εκ., ρόδινα-πορφυρά. Νήματα στημόνων λευκά, διογκωμένη βάση κίτρινη, ανθήρες κίτρινοι. Στύλοι λευκοί.
Κάψες έως 2.7 Χ 1.6 εκ., επιμήκεις-ελλειψοειδείς, σπέρματα κοκκινωπά-καφέ.
Χρωμοσωματικός αριθμός: 2n=54.
Βιότοπος: υγρά λιβάδια, ανοικτά δάση, σε χαμηλά υψόμετρα.
Εξάπλωση: ΒΑ Ελλάδα, Ευρωπαική Τουρκία και ΝΑ Βουλγαρία.
Ταξινομικά σχόλεια: Το C. turcicum, με τα κάπως στενά και συνεστραμμένα φύλλα του, είναι παρόμοιο με τα C. haynaldii και C. confusum, διαφέρει όμως από τον μεγαλύτερο αριθμό των φύλλων (έως 9), περισσότερο επιμήκη στο σχήμα και με ευρύ χόνδρινο περιθώριο, συχνά τριχωτό. Ακόμη, το C. turcicum έχει τους στήμονες βαθιά μέσα στον λαιμό του άνθους και έχει μαυριδερούς, δερματώδεις χιτώνες.
Flowering September-October. Leaves February to April.
Corm up to 4.2 X 4.5 cm, subglobose, tunics coriaceous, dark brown, with a long neck.
Leaves 5-9, hysteranthous, suberect (-patent), up to 22 X 1.3 cm, margins twisted, ciliate.
Flowers 3-8, tepals up to 5 X 1 cm, pinkish-purple. Filaments white, swollen base yellow, anthers yellow. Styles white.
Capsules up to 2.7 X 1.6 cm, oblong-ellipsoid, seeds reddish-brown.
Chromosomaticnumber: 2n=54.
Habitat: wet meadows, open woodlands, at low altitudes.
Distribution: NE Greece, NW Turkey, SE Bulgaria.
Taxonomic notes: C. turcicum, with its rather narrow and pronouncedly twisted leaves, is similar to both C. haynaldii and C. confusum, differing in the high number of leaves (up to 9), of a more oblong shape and by its broadly cartilaginous, more often short- ciliate margins. Moreover, C. turcicum differs also by the insertion of stamens deep into the flowers throat (down into the tube) and by the blackish, coriaceous tunics.
